Itinerary

Day 1: Guwahati Arrival & Transfer to Shillong

  • Travel Distance: ~100 km

  • Travel Time: 2.5-3 hours

  • Route: Guwahati → Shillong

  • Sightseeing:

    • Umiam Lake: A serene man-made lake surrounded by lush hills, perfect for a relaxing stop and scenic photography.

    • Don Bosco Museum: A cultural museum showcasing the rich heritage of the Northeast with interactive exhibits.

  • Overnight Stay: Shillong

 

Day 2: Shillong to Cherrapunjee

  • Travel Distance: ~55 km

  • Travel Time: 1.5-2 hours

  • Route: Shillong → Cherrapunjee

  • Sightseeing:

    • Sacred Forest: An ancient forest revered by locals, home to rare flora, and considered sacred.

    • Lyngksiar Falls: A picturesque waterfall surrounded by natural beauty.

Day 3: Double Decker Root Bridge Trek

  • Activity:

    • Trek to the famous Double Decker Living Root Bridge in Nongriat Village, a marvel of natural engineering. The trek takes around 4-6 hours round trip, passing through beautiful forests, streams, and traditional Khasi villages.

Day 4: Cherrapunjee to Jowai

  • Travel Time: 2.5-3 hours

  • Route: Cherrapunjee → Jowai
